In July 2018, Google started marking all sites without an SSL certificate as “not secure” in the navigation bar. An SSL certificate creates a secure connection between your site and your customers. This means any information they give you (credit card numbers, names, addresses, etc.) stays private and doesn’t get into the wrong hands. It’s required for sites that sell online, but we recommend that all of our clients purchase an SSL certificate. Instead of “not secure”, your navigation bar will show a lock icon and “https” — visual cues that show visitors they can trust your site. We can take care of this for you with our Security Service Add-On ($9.99/month).
