Updating HostGator DNS Settings

Note: To update the A Record and CNAME record with HostGator, you must have a hosting account with cPanel access. If you do not have cPanel access, contact HostGator support via email, phone, or live chat and request to update your A Record and CNAME.

A RECORD

1. Log in to your HostGator cPanel (if you aren’t sure what the URL for your cPanel account is, log in to the Customer Portal, click the Hosting tab, and select Add-on Domains to be redirected) 

2. From the cPanel, find the section labeled Domains and click the Simple Zone Editor link

3. Select your domain from the dropdown

4. If you already have a website online, scroll down to the section titled User-Defined Records and click Delete next the existing A Records

5. Under the section labeled Add an A Record, enter NS1 in the Name field and the first of the two IP addresses provided by Mopro, and click the Add an A Record button 

6. For the secondary A Record, under the section labeled Add an A Record, enter NS2 in the Name field and the second of the two IP addresses provided by Mopro, and click the Add an A Record button

 

CNAME

1. Log in to your HostGator cPanel (if you aren’t sure what the URL for your cPanel account is, you can log in to the Customer Portal, click the Hosting tab, and select Addon Domains to be redirected) 

2. From the cPanel, find the section labeled Domains and click the Simple Zone Editor link

3. Select your domain from the dropdown

4. If you already have a website online, scroll down to the section titled User-Defined Records and click Delete next the existing CNAME records

5. Under the section labeled Add a CNAME Record, enter www in the Name field and the CNAME provided by Mopro, and click the Add CNAME Record button

6. Check the section labeled User-Defined Records to verify that the new records have been successfully added
